Wotif.com opened its US office in June 2004 in response to the growing demand that the company was receiving from the North American market. Founded in Australia in 2000 Wotif.com is a global online last minute accommodation specialist with over 12,000 hotels and offices in 5 continents.
The New York Raiders sponsorship agreement was the proposal of Brand GM James Coulbault who was looking for a more interesting and involved way of promoting Wotif.com to the North American market.
“Being an Australian company in origin, sport and particularly rugby are very much a part of our history – Although being English, my favourite rugby memory will always be the Johnny Wilkinson drop goal in 2003! We are really pleased to be working with the New York Raiders and as this is our first attempt at any form of branding sponsorship within North America we will endeavour to do as much as we can to ensure that this is a great partnership for both Wotif.com and the Raiders.”
As part of the sponsorship agreement the Wotif.com logo will appear on the players kits’ throughout the season and this website has been set up to help accommodate Raiders fans travelling to away games during the season or wishing to visit rugby around the world.
Regarding the sponsorship New York Raiders Team President Joel Venables is quoted as saying “This is great exposure for The New York Raiders as we continue to dedicate ourselves to the development, promotion and expansion of professional Rugby League in the United States. The New York Raiders are very excited to be partnered with Wotif.com and their great rates for a broad range of hotels, motels, apartments, resorts and bed & breakfasts around New York City and the Hudson Valley Region of New York State."
